March 2, 2010 (FinancialWire) — Amerigroup Corp. (NYSE: AGP) said that its New Jersey health plan has completed the previously announced acquisition of certain assets of University Health Plans. The acquisition is effective March 1, according to Amerigroup.

The sale agreement was reported in November 2008, and in October 2009, the companies said a settlement agreement was reached to resolve litigation regarding the transaction.

Amerigroup Community Care of New Jersey now serves around 156,000 members. The company said it does not expect this transaction to have a material impact on its 2010 earnings.
