Google Faces EU Antitrust Investigation
February 24, 2010 /EIN PRESSWIRE/ Google is too dominant. That's the message from the European Commission, which has started an antitrust inquiry into Google and its ultra-dominant market share of Internet search engines.
The inquiry is a result of allegations from three companies that have complained that Google's search engine penalizes potential competitors and keeps advertising prices artificially high. The companies also claim that Google gives unfair precedence to its own products when users initiate a search.
Google faces a fine of up to $2.3 billion.
