Building And Construction Sector Goes Upbeat For 2010
The 'Talking Up The Industry Charter' is an initiative by Built Environment Marketing to boost media perceptions of the construction & property sector economic prospects
PRESS DISPENSARY - Monday, Jan 04, 2010 - Frequently seen as a national economic barometer, the built environment industry - construction and property - plays a pivotal role in Britain's economy. The sector was among the first to signal the 2008 economic downturn and now - at the start of a new decade - it is offering a positive outlook with the launch of the 'Talking Up The Industry' Charter (http://www.built-environment-marketing.com/index.php/petition ). Talking Up The Industry invites professionals from across the built environment disciplines to commit to voicing a positively charged view of their industry's performance.
Talking Up The Industry is an initiative launched by long-established built environment marketer Keith Griffiths of Built Environment Marketing (http://www.built-environment-marketing.com/ ), which offers consultancy services, learning and development programmes to property and construction businesses and a VIP membership programme for individuals.
Keith Griffiths says: "Talking Up The Industry started life at the Drivers Jonas Crane Survey in Leeds a couple of weeks ago, where we were asking how - as industry professionals - we might counter negative media portrayals of our sector's performance. We realised that the initiative had to come from us.
"There was a consensus that our industry had spent the last couple of years being talked down: that negative media coverage had actually contributed to the sector's downturn. But we can't just blame the media: we were also our own worst enemies and it is now time for a change.
"Talking Up The Industry invites built environment business leaders to commit to a positive view of the sector, to sign the Talking Up The Industry Charter at http://www.built-environment-marketing.com/index.php/petition and take a new year's resolution to speak positively about our sector. This can be a great sector to be working in at the moment, so let's say so loudly and frequently."
The Talking Up The Industry Charter launches on January 4, 2010.
