Debut single release by 18 year old, London based singer-songwriter, STiX: 'Inadequate'.

'Inadequate' - primarily a chart-oriented pop song but with shades of influence from genres as far apart as 70s soul, 80s electropop and Bond composer John Barry - explores the angst of the universal teenager who feels floored by the equally universal, seemingly flawless and godlike idol who dominates every social group and leaves the rest of the group undermined. The single is released on iTunes this week.

STiX - real name the similarly alluring Sirius Fawkes - is an unsigned artist with a seven year history of writing and public performance, who is as comfortable creating pop songs and ballads as he is composing a classical film score. He has appeared at a great many talent shows and has two videos of covers on YouTube.

As a singer, his voice has a surprising maturity that belies his age and youthful looks, with undertones reminiscent of 80s icon Rick Astley.

STiX believes there are great benefits in being unsigned: "I have more creative freedom than contract artists: everything I write is entirely my own, in my own voice with my own passions and insights. I'm not under pressure to fulfil contractual obligations so I can release music when I think the time is right, and in the order I think is right."

He is under no illusions about the challenges of reaching the top but is ambitious to do so: "It's like climbing Mount Everest. Difficult but not impossible."

Of 'Inadequate' he says: "Do I think the single is good enough for such an ambition? Of course I do. I'm a bit of a perfectionist so I wouldn't have put it out if it didn't reach my own high standards. Ultimately, I love what I do and I think that comes across in the music."
