ABELMed EHR-EMR/PM v11 is pre-market conditionally certified for Ambulatory EHR 2011 pending verification of operational use at two physician practices. As part of the certification inspection process, technology usability is rated. Scores are compiled and averaged to yield an overall 5 star rating. ABELMed EHR-EMR/PM v11 received a Four Star rating for usability.

As required by the Certification Commission for Health Information Technology(1), the CCHIT Certified(R) 2011 program inspects products against comprehensive functionality, interoperability, and privacy and security criteria using the Commission’s published methods. Products must be fully compliant. Products must also meet or exceed applicable proposed Federal standards for certified EHR technology to support the 2011-2012 incentives under ARRA.

The ARRA was signed into law by the U.S. Federal government on February 17, 2009. The Health Information Technology for Economic and Clinical Health (HITECH) Act, a section of the ARRA act, allocates $19.2 billion dollars for distribution by the Office of the National Coordinator for Health IT (ONCHIT) to physicians and health care organizations that effectively implement and use certified Electronic Health Record technology. Providers who purchase certified systems and meet the criteria for meaningful use will be eligible for these incentive payments.
