E-videos Teach Stage Techniques For Successful Presenters At Bop
Invaluable ‘stage survival’ techniques are available online for anyone who needs to deliver a presentation, thanks to the launch of a series of e-videos from BOP.
PRESS DISPENSARY - Monday, Nov 23, 2009 - BOP Training ( http://www.boptraining.co.uk ), a communication skills training company, is using techniques founded in the world of theatre to create stellar presenters who can put on a ‘good show’ to help boost business during the downturn. And now the invaluable ‘stage survival’ techniques are available online for anyone who needs to deliver a presentation, thanks to the launch of a series of e-videos from BOP.
As well as helping business professionals by combining theatrical skills with the psychology of business, the e-videos will benefit the best man before a wedding, golf captains or those pitching for projects or funding. The videos include: ‘The BOP Psychology of Excellence’ - everything you need to think and do before you open your mouth (without putting your foot in it!); ‘Gestures and Stance’ - what to do with your hands so you’re neither waving nor drowning; ‘Breath Control’ – how to inhale, exhale but not expire when facing an audience; ‘Vocal Variety’ – be colourful, interesting and engaging... just by opening your mouth; ‘The Language of Physical Energy’ – look lively or relaxed but look like you mean it; ‘Handling Questions and Answers’ - quell those Q & A quakes and quivers; ‘Telling the Story’ – revealing your information to entice and entrance; ‘PowerPoint’ – make PowerPoint your hired help, not the fifth emergency service; ‘Nerves and Anxiety’ – embracing your bottle without losing it or turning to it; and ‘Presentation Myths, Fallacies and Other Excuses’ – don’t talk yourself out of being brilliant.
Pitched at any presenters who want to ‘learn the ropes’ and hone their skills, the series provides a practical guide to making the right impression, rather than a lasting negative impression that all concerned would rather forget! To promote the series, BOP Training is placing two short films on free-to-view sites such as YouTube. One ten minute film depicts the journey of a bad presenter who climbs into Peter’s 'taxi' and is given some pertinent BOP advice that transforms his presenting dexterity, and a two minute 'top tips' film that covers the art of storytelling in business.
BOP Training, which operates nationwide and worldwide from its Virginia Water base, is unusual in successfully cross-fertilising the communication skills of theatre, gained at the very highest level of performance, into the business environment. The idea is to help individuals increase their personal impact but employers also benefit from staff developing their presentation skills, while group training boosts team spirit. After all, an effective and well-delivered presentation can be instrumental in winning new business and impressing existing clients.
Former Royal Shakespeare Company (RSC) and Royal National Theatre actor, Peter Stephens, is director and facilitator of BOP Training. He has provided training in the corporate sector for over 20 years, while also maintaining a professional career in theatre and TV to keep his work fresh and relevant. Peter, whose career highlights include playing Puck for the RSC, is joined by fellow master trainer and award-winning theatre director, Toby Wilsher, whose work has been seen in 31 countries and who has received many Edinburgh ‘Fringe Firsts’ for his directing. Both Peter and Toby are unusual in that they also have experience of running successful and profitable companies. When required, other specialists are brought in to augment the training courses.
Visitors to Boptraining.co.uk will be offered a five day, free e-video course - comprising five videos of two minutes duration - and can then subscribe to the series of eight full videos, costing £249.00, but with a special offer of just £99.00 until the end of December 2009.
Peter says: “The ability and desire to communicate is one of life's strongest core values and the motivation to be the best you can is an undervalued commodity these days. We would like to change that and BOP strives to bring out an individual's personal – or personnel - best. We draw on theatre's 3,000 years of experience and millions of satisfied customers worldwide to help individuals be most effective, most of the time. Our videos can help people present well and avoid the age-old problem of dying an embarrassing and seemingly never-ending death in front of the audience!”
