Las Vegas, NV—The luxurious Las Vegas Strip hotel and casino, Caesar’s Palace, was the site of a serious escalator malfunction, which injured a dozen guests. One of the convention area escalators reportedly malfunctioned around 1:00 p.m., Saturday evening, November 14, 2009, as reported by the Las Vegas-Review Journal. According to Caesar’s Palace public relations officials, a total of 12 hotel guests were taken to the Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center by emergency medical services (EMS) crews for treatment of their non-life threatening injuries. All of the guests were treated at the hospital by doctors and nurses and released. The injured guests reportedly all returned to the hotel by that evening. It is currently unknown what triggered the malfunction or what exactly went wrong. The escalator company was at the scene to investigate the cause of the incident. It was not reported if the Clark County police investigators are conducting an investigation into the mishap.
