Bethesda, Maryland (CaymanMama.com) — Google’s book deal may be on the verge of completion, making avid readers that much closer to accessing their favorite books online.

Google Inc.’s strategy to scan and sell millions of books for easy reading online may take a turn for the better on Friday, as the technology giant and book publishers will present a new settlement in the copyright lawsuit to a New York federal judge.

Google originally had until Monday or a new deal, but received an extension to Friday.

According to the Associated Press, “The case involves Google’s plans to scan millions of books and make them searchable and available for purchase online. Google reached a $125 million settlement with publishers that would give Google digital rights to the works.”

However, the U.S. Justice Department pushed for revisions to to the settlement with respect to the power Google would then hold over book prices as it took over a large inventory of e-books.
