November 13, 2009 (FinancialWire) — Dow Kokam LLC, a newly formed joint venture between The Dow Chemical Co. (NYSE: DOW) and TK Advanced Battery LLC, has appointed Ravi Shanker as president and CEO. Shanker previously served as corporate director of ventures and business development for Dow Chemical.

The Midland, Michigan-based company will produce batteries with superior lithium polymer technology for the hybrid and electric vehicle markets. Dow Kokam is scheduled to begin construction of a new 800,000 square-foot production facility in the coming months.

Dow closed its deal to acquire the assets of Kokam America on November 12.
