Harris Wins $196.5 Million State Department Contract
October 30, 2009 (FinancialWire) — Harris Corp. (NYSE: HRS) has been awarded a five-year contract worth $196.5 million to support the U.S. Department of State, Bureau of Consular Affairs in delivering services to U.S. citizens domestically and overseas, and facilitate foreign visitors travelling to the United States.
The contract includes a base year plus four one-year options, and will extend through 2013.
Under the contract, Harris will support the Department of State’s information technology by providing installation, training, help desk and information technology services in support of 270 domestic and international consular operations.
The contract includes work from Harris’ agreement with Consular Affairs as well as work from other contracts including Department of State passport support. Consular operations include embassies and consulates plus passport agencies that provide support to American citizens, immigrant visa and non-immigrant visa applications.
