NASA announces space shuttle Discovery to take flight on Tuesday
Dallas, Texas (CaymanMama.com) — Science enthusiasts will delight after learning that NASA’s Flight Readiness Review team announced Wednesday that space shuttle Discovery is slated to launch Tuesday of next week on a mission to the International Space Station.
The shuttle launched is scheduled for 1:36 a.m. Eastern on Tuesday, September 1st, however, launches are can be delayed due to inclement weather or technical concerns.
Discovery will transport a crew of seven astronauts as it delivers essential equipment to the space station.
An astronaut and member of the crew, Nicole Stott, “will remain on the space station as a flight engineer, replacing astronaut Timothy Kopra, who will return home aboard Discovery as a mission specialist, according to the NASA Web page for the mission,” according to CNN.com
