Google’s lawyers fight back against regulation of voice service
Dallas, Texas (CaymanMama.com) — Google Inc. seems to be in a constant struggle of power as many feel their operations should be regulated or changed in some way.
Keeping true to fashion, a Google lawyer reported to the media on Friday that the media mogul’s new voice service is an “online software tool” and should not be regulated.
Previously, AT&T Inc wrote a letter to the U.S. Federal Communications Commission stating that any recent “net neutrality” regulations should also apply to Internet companies as they do to telephone companies.
In a written reply, Richard Whitt, Google’s telecom and media counsel based out of Washington, held firm that the Google voice service is an “online software tool.”
“We feel comfortable that it is not a regulated service,” Whitt said. “It is a service that originates from an online platform.”
