Scientific Games Wins German Contract
September 8, 2009 (FinancialWire) — Scientific Games (NASDAQ: SGMS) said it has been awarded a contract with the Staatliche Toto-Lotto GmbH Baden-Wurttemberg in Germany to supply instant tickets and cooperative services.
The contract began in August, has an initial term of five years and includes additional one-year contract extension options, according to Scientific Games.
Under the award, Scientific Games will be the exclusive supplier of instant tickets for Baden-Wurttemberg and will be consulting on marketing support, game design and production matters.
Baden-Wurttemberg has a population of 10.7 million people. Under the contract, revenues to Scientific Games will be based on a percentage of instant ticket retail sales, according to the company.
The award represents the largest cooperative services contract Scientific Games has won in Germany, according to the company.
In 2008, the Staatliche Toto-Lotto GmbH Baden-Wurttemberg generated around $1.2 billion in lottery retail sales, according to Scientific Games.
New York-based Scientific Games is a supplier of instant tickets, systems and services to lotteries worldwide, a supplier of server based gaming machines and systems, amusement and skill with prize betting terminals, interactive sports betting terminals and systems, and wagering systems and services to pari-mutuel operators.
The company is also a licensed pari-mutuel gaming operator in Connecticut, Maine and the Netherlands and is a supplier of prepaid phone cards to telephone companies.
