Global Resource Gets OK In Microwave Process Patent Ap
August 21, 2009 (FinancialWire) — Global Resource Corp. (OTC: GBRC) has received a Notice of Allowance in its U.S. Patent Application Serial No. 11/610,823, “Microwave-Based Recovery of Hydrocarbons and Fossil Fuels.” The patent application is for the technology that is the core of the company’s first product, the Patriot 1(tm) Tire-to-Fuel Oil Recycling System, as well potential future applications.
A Notice of Allowance is issued by the United States Patent and Trademark office (U.S.PTO) if one or more of the claims of an application are allowed, and precedes the formal patent issuance. The patent application was assigned to and corresponds to the use of high frequency microwave-based technology to convert tires and other materials and fluids into higher-value hydrocarbon products and other valuable carbon based materials.
“We are very excited to have achieved this major milestone in the patenting of our technology and approach to waste product processing and other conversion applications,” said Peter Worthington, CEO of Global Resource Corp.. “This Notice of Allowance of our first patent application is an important milestone for us as we continue to develop our strategic position in the tire recycling and other industries, and make corresponding design and technological adjustments.”
Under terms of the patent application, the technology uses high-frequency microwaves in the electromagnetic spectrum between 4 gigahertz and 18 gigahertz to convert tires and other materials, such as plastics, heavy oil, tanker sludge, shale oil, coal, drill cuttings and muds and other waste products to fuel oil, sales gas and high value carbon products.
Worthington concluded, “The Global Resource team’s hard work, innovative thinking and development capabilities form the core of our company, and I congratulate them on this news. We will continue to expand our portfolio of intellectual property and the range of applications to which it can be applied.”
