August 11, 2009 (FinancialWire) — Computer Sciences Corp. (NYSE: CSC) said it is one of six companies awarded a blanket purchase agreement by the U.S. Department of Agriculture to provide security support. The agreement has a one-year base period, four one-year options and an estimated maximum total ceiling value of $30 million for all six firms.

Under the terms of the agreement, CSC will compete to assist the A in implementing new cyber security measures to ensure the proactive protection and security of its networks, applications and hardware.

The measures will include identifying security vulnerabilities, responding to attacks against agency resources and implementing corrective action accordingly.

Falls Church, Virginia-based Computer Sciences capabilities include systems design and integration, information technology and business process outsourcing, applications software development, web and application hosting, mission support and management consulting.

The company has around 92,000 employees and reported revenue of $16.2 billion for the 12 months ended July 3.
