Gifford To Head AIG Global Real Estate
August 10, 2009 (FinancialWire) — American International Group, Inc. (NYSE: AIG) has named Robert G. Gifford as president and chief executive officer of AIG Global Real Estate, the insurer’s international real estate investment arm.
Gifford previously spent 22 years with AEW Capital Management, a Boston-based real estate investment management advisor to institutional and private investors, where he was a principal.
Prior to AEW, Gifford worked for The Rouse Co., a developer and owner of regional shopping centers, urban mixed use projects and planned communities.
In his new role, Gifford succeeds Jeffrey Hurd, SVP and head of asset management restructuring and AIG chief administrative officer, who has been serving as interim president and CEO of AIG Global Real Estate.
Hurd will resume his previous responsibilities on a full-time basis.
AIG Global Real Estate invests in, develops, and manages $24.3 billion of real estate in 50 countries for clients and other AIG companies.
