AK Raises Carbon Steel Prices

July 31, 2009 (FinancialWire) — AK Steel (NYSE: AKS) said it will increase spot market prices for its carbon steel products by $40 per ton, effective with all new orders for September and October shipment.

West Chester, Ohio-based AK Steel produces flat-rolled carbon, stainless and electrical steels, primarily for automotive, appliance, construction and electrical power generation and distribution markets.

The company employs about 6,100 men and women. Its AK Tube subsidiary employs about 250 men and women in plants in Walbridge, Ohio and Columbus, Indiana.

AK Tube produces carbon and stainless electric resistance welded tubular steel products for truck, automotive and other markets.
