Burger King Names Higgins As EMEA President
July 16, 2009 (FinancialWire) — Burger King Corp. (NYSE: BKC) has appointed Kevin Higgins as president of its Europe, Middle East & Africa, or EMEA region. He will be based in the company’s EMEA headquarters in Zug, Switzerland.
Higgins will begin his new role in August, replacing Peter Robinson, who will complete his three-year commitment to the company in October. Higgins most recently served as general manager of Yum! Brands’ (NYSE: YUM) Europe and Russia franchise business unit in Geneva, Switzerland.
Higgins previously held positions at Yum! in their UK office including in the areas of development, franchisee development and finance. Prior to joining Yum!, Higgins worked for Pepsico Restaurants in London and for M&M/ Mars Inc. in the UK and the U.S.
Miami-based Burger King operates more than 11,800 restaurants in the 50 U.S. states and in 74 countries and U.S. territories worldwide. Around 90 percent of Burger King restaurants are owned and operated by independent franchisees.
