General Dynamics Wins $33 Million Navy Contract
July 14, 2009 (FinancialWire) — The U.S. Navy has awarded General Dynamics’ (NYSE: GD) Bath Iron Works unit a $33.1 million contract to provide ongoing lead yard services for the DDG 51 Arleigh Burke-class Aegis destroyer program.
General Dynamics said that the option modifies a contract initially awarded in November 2005.
Bath Iron Works has provided program management, engineering and design support for Arleigh Burke-class ships since 1987, supplying technical assistance in the interpretation and application of the detailed design developed by BIW, the lead shipyard for the class.
The award includes work associated with DDG 51 restart and upgrades associated with Aegis combat systems.
Falls Church, Virginia-based General Dynamics is offers business aviation systems, land and expeditionary combat systems, armaments and munitions, shipbuilding and marine systems and information systems and technologies.
