EMC to Buy Data Domain For $2.1 Billion
July 9, 2009 (FinancialWire) — EMC Corp. (NYSE: EMC) said it has agreed to acquire Data Domain, Inc. (NASDAQ: DDUP), a provider of deduplication storage solutions, for $33.50 per share. The transaction is expected to have a total enterprise value of around $2.1 billion, net of Data Domain’s cash.
The company’s all-cash tender offer began on June 2 and is scheduled to expire on July 17. EMC added a condition to its tender offer related to the termination of merger agreement Data Domain had with NetApp.
EMC said that the acquisition is expected to be neutral to its non-GAAP earnings per share in its fiscal year 2009 and accretive to its non-GAAP earnings per share in fiscal year 2010.
Hopkinton, Massachusetts-based EMC is a developer and provider of information infrastructure technology and solutions.
