Mesothelioma Cancer News (Pennsylvania) – The Citizens Advisory Group is seeking more effective communication with the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) on an asbestos area assessment. As reported by The Reporter, an assessment of the BoRit site, which was used as an area for disposal of materials that contained asbestos, is in progress for the removal of asbestos. Francisco Cruz, the site’s EPA community involvement coordinator, is quoted in the report as stating of plans for a Remedial Investigation/Feasibility Study (RIFS), “We're not just investigating for asbestos; we're investigating for everything… The things we're doing at this point are very structured because it's dictated by law.” CAG member Sharon McCormick is quoted as stating of not being informed of the agency’s plans, “If we can just, even verbally, get information about what's going to happen in the next month or six weeks, that would prevent a lot of this (frustration).” Proposed recommendations noted in the report on how to improve communication include weekly meetings via telephone and meetings between the municipalities.
