NIC Wins Utah Portal Management Contract
June 12, 2009 (FinancialWire) — The state of Utah has signed a new contract with NIC (NASDAQ: EGOV) to manage its official government portal for up to 10 years. The contract has an initial term of four years with six, single-year renewal options.
NIC originally signed a multi-year contract with Utah in 1999. The state of Utah issued a competitive bid for e-government portal services in 2008 and the contract was awarded again to NIC. The new contract went into effect in June.
In the past 10 years, NIC has worked with more than 50 Utah state agencies to develop more than 600 interactive government services. According to NIC, the Utah government site was the first state portal to offer one-stop business registrations that consolidated multiple agency processes into a single web site, expand real-time customer support and launch government-specific iPhone applications.
Olathe, Kansas-based NIC is a provider of official government portals, online services, and secure payment processing solutions. The company provides e-government solutions for more than 3,000 federal, state, and local agencies.
