May 28, 2009 (FinancialWire) — Cooper Tire & Rubber Co. (NYSE: CTB) said that vice president and chief financial officer Phil Weaver is retiring at the end of the year after 19 years with the company.

The company said it plans to name a successor by the end of 2009. Cooper is conducting a search and will consider both internal and external candidates.

Weaver joined Cooper in 1990, after being employed by Ernst & Young. His previous positions with the company included controller of the tire division from 1990 to 1994, and VP of the tire division from 1994 to 1998. In 1999 he was appointed to CFO. Weaver also serves on the board of Bemis Co.

Cooper said that Weaver will continue in his CFO capacity and serve on Cooper’s executive committee until a successor is named and an appropriate plan is in effect to ensure a smooth transition of responsibilities.
