Omnova Solutions Inks Labor Pact For Ohio Chemical Plant
May 27, 2009 (FinancialWire) — Chemical maker Omnova Solutions (NYSE: OMN) (Current Market Cap: US$121.41 Mil.) said that union employees at its Mogadore, Ohio facility have ratified a new contract with the company.
The employees are represented by the International Chemical Workers Council and its Local 419-C of the United Food and Commercial Workers Union.
According to Omnova, the contract covers around 56 bargaining unit members and extends for three years through May 31, 2012. Omnova employs about 106 total employees at the Mogadore plant.
Omnova’s Mogadore plant is part of the company’s performance chemicals business segment, which serves the styrene butadiene synthetic latex industry. Products manufactured at Mogadore are used as binders and adhesives for a range of applications, including paper coatings, carpet backing, nonwovens and construction infrastructure.
SB latex is Omnova’s largest single product line, with around 50% of the company’s global sales generated from this chemistry. In addition to the Mogadore plant, Omnova has facilities in Wisconsin and Georgia.
Fairlawn, Ohio-based Omnova Solutions posted 2008 sales of $869 million and has a current workforce of 2,415 employees worldwide. The company produces emulsion polymers, specialty chemicals, and decorative and functional surfaces for a range of commercial, industrial and residential end uses.
