Unum Ups Common Share Dividend
May 22, 2009 (FinancialWire) — Insurer Unum Group’s (NYSE: UNM) board has authorized an increase of 10% on the quarterly dividend paid on the company’s common stock. The new dividend rate of $0.0825 per common share will be effective on the dividend that Unum said it expects to declare in the third quarter.
Thomas R. Watjen, Unum’s president and chief executive officer called the move a “significant milestone,” coming six years after the company reduced its dividend to focus on restructuring the company.
Chattanooga, Tennessee-based Unum is a provider of employee benefits products and services and a provider of disability insurance products in the United States and the United Kingdom.
