BluePhoenix Inks $1.5 Million IT Contract

May 21, 2009 (FinancialWire) — BluePhoenix Solutions (NASDAQ: BPHX) (Current Market Cap: US$43.05 Mil.) said it has been awarded a contract worth more than $1.5 million to modernize business systems for a transportation and logistics company.

According to BluePhoenix, the customer is looking to modernize its core financial shipment management systems, and selected BluePhoenix to migrate IBM mainframe hosted applications and databases to an open source Linux platform. Legacy databases are being replaced by an Oracle based solution, while legacy applications are being converted into JAVA applications.

BluePhoenix also said that, in addition to reducing the license costs associated with its legacy technologies, the customer was motivated to modernize its IT infrastructure so that it could offer its own customers new and enhanced features, including order management and shipment tracking facilities.

The project, that followed a BluePhoenix assessment of the customer’s modernization needs, is scheduled to be complete by the end of 2009.
