May 19, 2009 (FinancialWire) — Maxwell Technologies, Inc. (NASDAQ: MXWL) (Current Market Cap: US$220.60 Mil.) said it has priced the sale of two million shares of its common stock in a public offering underwritten by Roth Capital Partners.

The company has granted Roth Capital an over allotment option to purchase up to 300,000 additional shares. Maxwell will see gross proceeds of around $17.6 million.

All of the stock is being offered by Maxwell, and the transaction is scheduled to close on May 22.

Maxwell plans to use the proceeds for working capital and general corporate purposes.

San Diego-based Maxwell Technologies is a developer and manufacturer of energy storage and power delivery solutions. The company makes ultracapacitor cells and multi-cell modules that provide power solutions for applications in consumer and industrial electronics, transportation and telecommunications.

Maxwell also makes high-voltage grading and coupling capacitors used for electric utility infrastructure and other applications involving transport, distribution and measurement of high-voltage electrical energy.

The company makes radiation-mitigated microelectronic products used in aerospace applications.
