Aerojet Wins Air Force Rocket Motor Contract
May 15, 2009 (FinancialWire) — GenCorp (NYSE: GY) (Current Market Cap: US$140.99 Mil.) said its Aerojet subsidiary has been awarded a technology demonstration contract from the U.S. Air Force’s 526th ICBM systems group. The program is worth just over $46 million over a three-year period.
According to Aerojet, the award will provide the Air Force with a 92-in. diameter upper stage rocket motor that can be used for a variety of future launch applications including strategic deterrence, conventional strike and rapid space response.
Aerojet is an aerospace and defense firm principally serving the missile and space propulsion, defense and armaments markets.
Rancho Cordova, California-based GenCorp is a manufacturer of aerospace and defense products and systems with a real estate segment that includes activities related to the entitlement, sale, and leasing of the company’s excess real estate assets.
