As reported by The National Law Journal, the judge accused the Dallas based firm Waters & Kraus of attempting to force a settlement by filing cases in two separate jurisdictions. As noted in the report, Waters & Kraus filed a lawsuit on behalf of a man in Los Angeles who passed away from mesothelioma in 2007, first in Texas and subsequently in California. Of their actions, Kraus is said by the Law Journal to have stated they did so in accordance with policies for filing in jurisdictions that allow ailing clients to not have to sit through lengthy depositions.
