May 4, 2009 (FinancialWire) — Canadian mining firm Endeavour Silver Corp. (AMEX: EXK) (Current Market Cap: US$81.94 Mil.) (TSX: EDR) said it has stopped work at its two operations in Mexico and plans restart on May 6. The company said it made the move under a Mexican presidential decree aimed at preventing the spread of the H1N1, or swine flu virus.

The presidential decree regulates that all non-essential government agencies and private businesses are ordered to cease operations until May 6 to combat the spread of the virus.

In a statement, company management said it is putting in place a plan to pick up this lost production throughput the remainder of the year so it does not impact the company’s annual forecast.

The company said that its Mexico operations are “relatively isolated” and that it has no outbreaks of the flu at either of its locations in the country.
