Corel To Reduce Workforce By 8%

April 30, 2009 (FinancialWire) — Canadian software firm Corel Corp. (NASDAQ: CREL) (TSX: CRE) (Current Market Cap: US$46.62 Mil.) said that it is reducing its global workforce by around 8%, or 80 employees worldwide. The company said is taking these actions to better align its cost structure with current and future anticipated revenue.

In a statement, Corel said it will incur a one-time restructuring charge in the second quarter of around $1.4 million as a result of these actions.

Ottawa-based Corel develops software that is used for graphic design and other creative work.

The company has offices in the United States, United Kingdom, Germany, China, Taiwan and Japan.
