Communications & Power Industries, Inc. unit has received a roughly $3 million award from DataPath, Inc., to support an upgrade to existing communications terminals used for a U.S. Army military satellite communications program.

Under the contract, CPI will supply satellite communications amplifiers to upgrade the program’s existing terminals. Adding the new capabilities will allow the terminals to utilize high-bandwidth communications capacity recently made available to support U.S. military operations worldwide.

With the latest award, CPI has recently received more than $4 million in total awards from DataPath to support this upgrade project for the Army program. CPI is a leading provider of microwave, radio frequency, power and control solutions for defense, communications, medical, scientific and other applications.

CPI has participated in various iterations of the Army program, called WIN-T, since 2006, receiving around $40 million in orders, of which around $17 million remained in order backlog as of April 3. CPI said it expects to receive an additional $10 million to $20 million in orders for the program in the next couple of years.
