The township reportedly began a $450,000 renovation project last October; however, the recent asbestos finding in addition to a previous one has significantly slowed progression. Phil Haderer, township engineer, is quoted in the report as stating of the matter, “We are just following customary procedures to ensure we don't create a problem.” The asbestos has been deemed nonfriable or not as likely as some types to lead to a safety hazard.
