Alliant Techsystems Wins $90 Million Lockheed Martin Contract
Under terms of the annual contract, ATK will continue to supply Trident solid rocket propulsion systems to the Trident II Missile System Prime Contractor, Lockheed Martin, through 2011. Deployed in 1990, Trident II is the only U.S. submarine-launched strategic missile system in production today.
ATK has a 52-year history of producing solid propulsion systems for submarine-launched ballistic missiles, beginning with the Polaris missile and continuing through the Trident II FBM. The company's solid rocket portfolio ranges from 3-inch diameter spin motors to the Space Shuttle's Reusable Solid Rocket Motors.
