Science Applications Wins $115 Million Army Biometrics Subcontract

February 24, 2009 (FinancialWire) -- Science Applications International Corp. (NYSE: SAI) said it has been awarded a subcontract by Sensor Technologies Inc. to support the U.S. Army Communications and Electronics Command by providing operations and user maintenance support to Tactical Biometrics Systems.

SAIC's subcontract has a one-year base period of performance, three one-year options and a total contract value of more than $115 million if all options are exercised. The task order was awarded under the CECOM Strategic Services Sourcing contract.

TBS is a collection of biometric tools including the Biometrics Automated Toolset - Army, the Biometrics Identification System for Access and Hand-held Interagency Identity Detection Equipment systems. TBS devices collect fingerprints, iris scans, facial photos and biographical information on persons of interest.

The biometric data is then matched against a database, potentially identifying wanted or dangerous persons. Through this subcontract, SAIC will provide operations and user maintenance support to help ensure continued, reliable technical support of TBS systems, peripherals and networks.
