February 11, 2009 (FinancialWire) -- United Technologies Corp.'s (NYSE: UTX) (Current Market Cap: US$43.86 Bil.) Pratt & Whitney unit has been awarded a $285 million contract option from the U.S. Air Force to maintain F119 engines for the F-22 Raptor.

The support program for the Raptor engine involves sustainment for fielded engines in 2009. Sustainment activities include spare parts, labor support, fleet management and technical support for the Pratt & Whitney F119 engine.

The stealthy F-22 Raptor is exclusively powered by two Pratt & Whitney F119 engines, and is the only fighter considered to be "fifth generation" in operational service.
