Indiana High School Asbestos Removal Moving Along
According to school officials the renovations being conducted at Hobart High School located in Hobart, Indiana are moving right along with many of the projects being ahead of schedule. Asbestos abatement in the building is already approximately fifty to seventy-five percent complete.
Asbestos must be safely removed from buildings that are undergoing renovations in order to limit the risk of possible asbestos exposure. Such exposure has been known to lead to the development of a number of very dangerous diseases including mesothelioma, asbestosis, and lung cancer.
Because such diseases tend to have a considerably long latency period it is in most cases very difficult to find effective treatment options. Often by the time such a disease is discovered it is already in its advanced stages of development.
The asbestos present in the Hobart High School is located in floor tiles in various rooms throughout the building as well as in science lab tables in the building.
Work began at the school on December 22, 2009 and must be complete by August of this year so that students and staff may return to their normal classrooms and offices. According to officials the renovations are at this point already ahead of schedule.
Exterior work will begin as soon as weather allows, most likely within the next couple of weeks.
