Asbestos Test Positive from Cement Company
Montana -- Asbestos has been identified at a Montana City plant.
Shortly after tests from air samples at a Montana City plant came back negative for asbestos, more tests have made a positive identification of the toxic mineral in certain areas of the plant. As reported by Gazette News Services, the tests revealed that asbestos was present at the limestone quarry of Ash Grove Cement Company.
As noted in the report, the tests, conducted by the federal Mine Safety and Health Administration, were found to be conclusive for the presence of tremolite, a type of asbestos, at particular areas of the company’s quarry.
Ash Grove Cement Co. previously closed down its Montana City plant pending an investigation regarding the presence of asbestos. There has yet to be word on the next steps the company will take in light of the recent developments.
