Taser Unleashes Area Denial System

March 31, 2009 (FinancialWire) -- Taser International, Inc. (NASDAQ: TASR) said it has begun selling the Taser Shockwave area denial system to tactical law enforcement, corrections, homeland security, critical infrastructure and military customers.

Rick Smith, CEO of Taser International, said, "The Shockwave system is a mobile, remote force-multiplier which uses our proven Taser Neuro Muscular Incapacitation technology to deny access to strategically important areas."

The basic Shockwave unit consists of a six-shot Taser ECD that covers a 20-degree arc with 25-ft XP Taser cartridges. The Shockwave is designed as a fully modular system, that can be stacked side-by-side, vertically, or 'daisy-chained' together in limitless combinations to allow an optimized response for every deployment.

According to the company's website, the system can be used to deploy cartridges up to 25 feet to incapacitate multiple personnel. It can be activated from a control box up to 100 meters away from the combat zone.

The company's stock was up by about 11 cents on Tuesday morning, on a par with most index averages.
