March 26, 2009 (FinancialWire) -- Owens-Illinois, Inc., (NYSE: OI) has named Greg Sipla vice president and chief strategy officer. He joins the firm from the Tupperware Brands Corp. (NYSE: TUP), where he served as vice president of strategy and business development.

Sipla previously held strategic planning positions at Constellation Brands (OTC: CLLYF), Accenture (NYSE: ACN), Siemens Medical Systems (NYSE: SI) and Anheuser-Busch.

In his new role, Sipla will be responsible for the development of O-I's long-term strategy through his establishment an office of strategic management. He also will lead O-I's efforts to enter markets and businesses not currently pursued by the company and will provide analytical insight and support for growth in markets and businesses where the company currently competes.

Perrysburg, Ohio-based Owens-Illinois makes glass containers used for consumer product packaging in Europe, North America, Asia Pacific and Latin America. The company employs more than 23,000 people and has 80 manufacturing facilities in 22 countries.
