Sci-Fi Novel Explores Future Where an Asteroid is Set to Collide with Earth
Atlantis the Trilogy by Ira David Shandles is a novel examining the notion that the power of ancient Atlantis could help save contemporary man
ODESSA, Fla. December 3, 2008 -- In Atlantis the Trilogy: Part One, protagonist Dr. Robert Asner experiences strange events making him believe that he has lived before during the time of the ancient civilization of Atlantis, where he accrued knowledge that could help save present-day mankind.
Did the mysterious civilization of Atlantis exist, and could it exert power on man’s future? That’s the question asked in Ira David Shandles’ science fiction novel, Atlantis the Trilogy. When Asner begins having disturbing dreams, he finds himself questioning the nature of reality and whether or not he has lived before.
As Asner becomes more and more convinced that he was a high priest in Atlantis, he begins to also explore other modern mysteries, delving into the story of Roswell, the mystery of the Sphinx and the amazing powers of Edgar Cayce. But when an enormous asteroid begins its trajectory towards the earth, Asner must use his ancient knowledge to solve a very modern problem.

In Atlantis the Trilogy, Shandles intends for the lost civilization of Atlantis to suggest new and more beneficial ways of surviving in today’s society. The Atlanteans, he proposes, knew something that allowed them to accept, embrace and truly exploit nature, to benefit man, but were quite wary of their human contemporaries. He hopes, through this series, to make them evermore real to everyone. By also touching on relevant paranormal subjects and controversies, Shandles aims for his novel to be both thought-provoking and entertaining in the context of the adventure and our contemporary life.
