Somerset, NJ (MMD Newswire) December 18, 2008  -- Phonte, one-half of hip hop duo, Little Brother, will sit down with radio host Toyi Ward on this week’s show to discuss today’s hip hop and how the election of Barack Obama may change current hip hop images in America.

Phonte is one of the hardest working men in the music business. His range of musical prowess can be heard as a member of Little Brother, Foreign Exchange, and recently on Jazzanova’s album Of All Things. In addition to being a lyrically accomplished MC with Little Brother, Phonte’s soothing vocals on “Look What Your Doin’ To Me” almost makes you forget he is the very same rapper on Little Brother’s “Slow it Down.”

Little Brother formed at North Carolina Central University in 1998. The group began as a trio, featuring members Phonte (Phonte Coleman), Big Pooh (Thomas Jones), and producer 9th Wonder (Pat Douthit). Little Brother’s official debut came in August 2001 with their first recording, "Speed". They continued to work the local scene and were picked up by ABB Records. In 2002, Little Brother released the cult hit 7" single Atari 2600. In 2003, the group released their first full length album, The Listening followed by 2005’s The Minstrel Show.
