Author Pens Novel about Restoring Relationships Using Memories
Summer of Firefly Memories by Joan Gable is a reflective novel about second chances and new beginnings
CAVE CREEK, Ariz. (MMD Newswire) March 6, 2009 - - Summer of Firefly Memories, a new book by Joan Gable, is the tale of four sisters who come together to face the "ghosts of the past" and consequently discover the advantages of a change of scenery and recovering almost-forgotten "firefly memories."
Although fictional, the novel's main character, Samantha McGreggor, is similar to the author who was also at a crossroads in her career. No longer inspired by writing about environmental impacts in the 21st century, protagonist Samantha McGreggor seeks solace in a rustic lake resort that she hasn't visited since her parents' deaths 20 years before.
In her manuscript, Gable illustrates the sisters getting to know each other again while sifting through their emotions and recollections of the years gone by. Gable stresses the importance of recognizing "the flashes of memories that are lost somewhere in our minds and the glimpses that are recovered randomly throughout our lives." The author hopes that readers will recognize the need to find inner peace and solace in their own lives and seek the change they want, no matter how difficult it may be.
Gable wrote Summer of Firefly Memories to show women that adults are typically the same as they were as children, and the dreams and hopes they had as children shaped them into the adults they are today. She hopes for it to be an entertaining read that will prompt readers to remember that it is never too late for a new beginning.
