March 10, 2009 (FinancialWire) -- NutraCea (OTCBB: NTRZ) (Current Market Cap: US$48.76 Mil.) has named James C. Lintzenich, the chairman of the firm's audit committee, to the role of chief executive officer on an interim basis. Lintzenich will replace Brad Edson, who has resigned from his positions with NutraCea as president, CEO and a member of the company's board.

The company said that Edson will serve as a consultant to NutraCea as requested by Lintzenich and the board during a transition period for up to two months following Lintzenich's appointment. NutraCea said it has begun a formal search to identify a permanent CEO.

Lintzenich has been a member of NutraCea's board since October of 2005 and as a director of The RiceX Co., one of NutraCea's subsidiaries, since June of 2003. He is currently overseeing a review initiated by the audit committee of the NutraCea board and the expected financial restatements for the year ended December 31, 2007, including the associated second, third and fourth quarters in 2007, and all of the quarters in 2008.

Previously, Lintzenich was president and COO of Sallie Mae, a provider of student loans in the U.S. He also served as CEO, COO and CFO of USA Group, a student loan company.

Phoenix-based NutraCea is engaged in the production and utilization of stabilized rice bran. NutraCea holds various patents for stabilized rice bran production technology and proprietary neutraceutical formulas ranging from arthritis, chronic bowel conditions, and effective diabetes control to cardiovascular disease treatment protocols.

NutraCea's technology is designed to enable the creation of food and nutrition products to be unlocked from rice bran, normally a waste by-product of standard rice processing.
