iWorx Introduces Advanced Teaching Kit for Neurobiology
DOVER, N.H.--iWorx, a developer of physiology teaching and research tools, has introduced a Neurobiology Teaching Kit for college level labs. The NBK/214 Advanced Neurobiology Kit enables teachers to conduct a comprehensive lab course with seven experiments that use both extracellular and intracellular recording techniques to demonstrate important characteristics of excitable tissue. Experiments that can be conducted with the kit include:
* membrane potentials and how they develop
* action potentials and how they develop and propagate synapses, transmitters, and receptors, and how they work
* neurons in the central nervous system, and how they control specific cells and functions
* motor neurons and how they control effector organs
* sensory receptors and how they provide information to the central nervous system
The neurobiology labs included with the NBK/214 teaching kit are pre-configured and easily modified to meet specific teaching requirements, without requiring complex programming. A built-in Lab Journal allows students to easily create reports, including raw data tables and graphs, without having to export data to another application. Lab capabilities can be simply expanded with "plug and play" transducers and other interfaces.
The NBK/214 Advanced Neurobiology Teach Kit includes the iWorx 214 Four Channel Computer Interface, LabScribe2 Data Acquisition and Analysis Software, Extracellular Differential Amplifier with Headstage, Intracellular Electrometer, Nerve Bath Chamber, accessories, and courseware, in either PDF, HTML, and hard copy formats.
Full specifications can be found on iWorx Web site. For more information, contact iWorx/CB Sciences, Inc., One Washington Street, Suite 404, Dover, NH 03820 (T) (800) 234-1757, (F) (603) 742-2455, billm@iworx.com.
