SnapLogic Delivers Internet Scale Data Integration

SAN MATEO, Calif.--SnapLogic, the sponsor of the SnapLogic Open Source data integration project, today announced the immediate availability of a Beta version of their Internet data integration solution. The software is licensed under the GPL and is available for download now at www.snaplogic.org.

SnapLogic builds integration and transformation services into server infrastructure so that data contained in databases and applications can be integrated just like Web servers are added to the Internet.

Integration Pioneer Seeds SnapLogic Project

Gaurav Dhillon, the co-founder and former CEO of data integration pioneer Informatica (Nasdaq:INFA), recognized the potential of Open Source Software to address data integration problems for modern Web applications. Mike Pittaro joined the project as co-founder of SnapLogic in 2005, and then brought on Chris Marino as CEO to lead the team.

"Traditional approaches to data integration simply don't meet the needs of today's fully-distributed Web-based applications and services," said Gaurav Dhillon, SnapLogic chairman and co-founder. "By adopting Internet standards and applying the Open Source development model, we believe SnapLogic will revolutionize the industry."

Open Source: The Future of Application Deployment

The LAMP Open Source stack has become the de facto standard for Web application deployment. In addition, the unique requirements of custom integrations typically require programming.

"Even today, data integration remains a programmer's problem and the breadth of the connectivity and transformation requirements continue to challenge traditional, closed products," said Mike Pittaro, co-founder and chief community officer of SnapLogic. "The transparency of Open Source and the power of its community are ideally suited to solving these problems which makes SnapLogic an ideal solution to meet the needs of data integration projects of all sizes."

Data Services Are Growing

Companies of all sizes are dealing with an exponential growth in the data to be managed and data services are quickly becoming a common solution to this very complex problem. SnapLogic takes the idea of an Enterprise data service and extends it to the Web.

"The problem of getting data from one place to another is universal, and while the Web has solved that problem for documents, integrating the underlying data is still a huge challenge," said Chris Marino, CEO of SnapLogic. "Our innovative, open approach to data integration uses the universal standards and technologies of the Web, and applies them to data integration."

The simplicity of this technique enables a building-block approach that supports interoperability and reuse of integration components to a level that was previously unattainable with commercial, or hand-coded alternatives.

About SnapLogic

SnapLogic is an Open Source Internet data services solution that uses the universal standards and technologies of the Web and applies them to the problem of data integration. SnapLogic transforms data into data services that can then be easily mixed and matched to satisfy any integration requirement.
