Fuel Tech Announces FUEL CHEM(R) Demonstration
BATAVIA, Illinois--Fuel Tech, Inc. (Nasdaq: FTEK), a world leader in advanced engineering solutions for the optimization of combustion systems in utility and industrial applications, today announced that a FUEL CHEM(R) demonstration order was placed by an existing customer to treat an electric generating facility in the Rocky Mountain States. Utilizing the Company's proprietary TIFI(TM) Targeted In-Furnace Injection(TM) program, this demonstration will be conducted on a small, Western coal-fired boiler experiencing challenging slagging problems. Chemical feed for the program is scheduled to commence later this quarter.
John F. Norris Jr., President and Chief Executive Officer, commented, "Western coals, with their high levels of sodium and other impurities, often give rise to slag build-up on boiler tubes, creating combustion and operational inefficiencies for power plants. Fuel Tech has had great success in treating a number of plants burning such coals and we are pleased to offer our services to this existing utility customer, which is currently utilizing our TIFI technology on an oil-fired unit."
