A RESOLUTION

Amending the Rules of the Senate, further providing for motions

and for rules.

RESOLVED, That Senate Rules 11(g) and 25(b) and (c) be

amended to read:

Rule 11. Motions.

(g) Motion for previous question.--Pending the consideration

of any question before the Senate, a Senator may call for the

previous question, and if seconded by four Senators, the

President shall submit the question: "Shall the main question

now be put?" If a [majority vote is] two-thirds vote of all

Senators elected are in favor of it, the main question shall be

ordered, the effect of which shall cut off all further

amendments and debate, and bring the Senate to a direct vote

first upon the pending amendments and motions, if there be any,

then upon the main proposition. The previous question may be

ordered on any pending amendment or motion before the Senate.
