Brian Adams Promoted

 

FORSYTH, Ga. – Georgia Department of Corrections (GDC) Commissioner Timothy C. Ward announced the promotion of Brian Adams, Superintendent at Appling Integrated Treatment Facility to Warden at Smith State Prison, effective October 1, 2019.  As Warden, Adams will be responsible for overseeing 325 security staff at the facility and approximately 1,545 close-security male offenders.

“Adams has proven himself to be an effective leader during his time with the department,” Ward said. “The work he has put in for more than 20 years of service is nothing short of excellent and we look forward to seeing him take the next step in his career.”

Adams began his career with the Department in 1997 as a Correctional Officer at Dodge State Prison, and in 2001, he transferred to Ware State Prison. During his tenure with Ware State Prison, he served as Sergeant, Lieutenant, Chief of Security, and Unit Manager. In 2018, he was promoted to Deputy Warden of Security at Georgia State Prison, and in 2019 he was promoted to Superintendent at Appling Integrated Treatment Facility, where he currently serves.

Adams has completed the following departmental training: Basic Correctional Officer Training, Basic Management Training, Wardens Pre-Command, and the Professional Management Program through Columbus State University.
