In memorium: Dr. Peter Salama, WHO
PMNCH mourns the sudden passing of our Board member, Dr Peter Salama, Executive Director, Universal Health Coverage – Life Course, World Health Organization, on 23 January 2020.
PMNCH Chair, the Rt Hon. Helen Clark, issued the following statement:
PMNCH shares with WHO and the global health community our immense sadness at the loss of Dr Peter Salama. Pete was a longstanding friend of PMNCH. He served as a Board alternative for UNICEF in the early years of PMNCH, and since last year, as Board member in his role as Executive Director at WHO.
Our deepest thoughts and sympathies today are with Pete’s family, as well as Dr Tedros and our colleagues at WHO.
We have lost one of our finest leaders in global health, whose integrity, passion, and determination for the health and well-being of women, children and adolescents will be deeply missed.
